Initiation BA4 Certificate - non-electrical work

Do you work on or around electrical installations? Do you sometimes change of bulb or switch a circuit breaker? In that case it is best to be aware of the risks, such as electric shock on contact. This is why you are required to obtain your BA4 certificate. It enables you to make a better assessment of the risks and hazards.

For whom is this training intended?

This interactive course is intended for all employees who: 

  • Carry out non-electrical works in the vicinity of electrical installations, such as cleaning or providing care 
  • Carry out tasks in areas where electrical risks or hazards are temporarily or permanently present or may occur, such as switching on a circuit breaker or replacing a bulb 
  • Work in retail, cleaning services, administrative roles, the healthcare sector or other areas

What will you gain from this training?

After the BA4 Certificate - Knowledgeable Person:

  • You will have sufficient knowledge to carry out limited electrical tasks safely and be able to: 
      • activate safeguards and replace electrical panel elements  
      • cut power to and replace installation equipment (light switches, power outlets, etc.), lighting and cables, insulation and construction-site cabinets  
  • You will be given a certificate for completing the course and a template for your BA4 competency certificate. 
  • You will also take an instruction sheet home with you on 'What to do in a Power Outage' and 'How to Safely Replace a Bulb'.

Programme 

  • Framework: BA1 to BA5 inclusive (typology)  
  • Understanding the operation and approach to electricity, concepts and terminology  
  • Legal framework: attention to aspects of the AREI (General Regulations for Electrical Installations) 
  • Attitude to working safely, risk assessment (LMRA) and preventive action  
  • Awareness of electrical hazards and risks  
  • Overview of the most common accidents, electrification and electrocution, and their effects on the body 
  • Responding to emergencies, procedures and agreements 
  • Use of the necessary PPE (personal protective equipment)  
  • Responsibilities of the parties concerned, organisation of the work
