Privacy Statement Camera Surveillance

Who are we?

This privacy statement informs you on how Securex processes your personal data when applying camera surveillance at our offices in Belgium.

Definition

Camera surveillance refers to any surveillance system with one (1) or more camera(s) aiming at monitoring certain places or activities at the workplace from a point that is geographically located at a distance from those venues or activities with a view of preserving or not the image data it collects and transmits.

Purpose of processing personal data

Personal data are processed in accordance with the European Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (hereinafter GDPR) further to your registration on our training platform and/or registration for a training course. 

We invoke our legitimate interest to carry out camera surveillance at our sites and process your personal data in doing so for the purpose of:

  • The safety and health of our employees, visitors, suppliers.
  • The protection and security of the company's assets.

Storage of image data

Securex undertakes, in the event of camera surveillance with retention of image data, to process the obtained images in good faith and in accordance with the purpose given to it. 

Should we nevertheless use the images for purposes other than those for which the camera surveillance was implemented, we must ensure that this use is compatible with the original purposes. Furthermore, we take all measures to avoid interpretation errors.

The image data collected in the context of camera surveillance are stored for one (1) month.

The data collected are only used within the European Union. 

Periods of operation of the cameras

Camera surveillance is continuous (the cameras operate on a permanent basis).

Data sharing and confidentiality

To prevent unauthorised access to personal data as much as possible, Securex observes strict security procedures. Camera images and related personal data are only shared with authorised persons within Securex on a need-to-know basis.

Securex may sometimes call on suppliers to carry out specific processing activities. These suppliers should also comply with all obligations and regulations and offer sufficient protection and guarantees so that processing activities always comply with the GDPR obligations.  

Securex may disclose your personal data to a third party at the request of any legally authorised authority, or even on its own initiative if it believes in good faith that such disclosure is required to comply with laws and regulations, to protect and/or defend the rights or assets of Securex Group vzw, of the legal entities of the Securex Group, or other parties involved, or, under special circumstances, to protect the security of Securex Group vzw, the legal entities of the Securex Group, its clients, and/or users.

Your rights

You can take notice of the data processed by Securex and, if necessary, have them corrected by means of a dated and signed request, sent together with a copy of the front of your identity card via e-mail to the address privacy@securex.be or via post to Securex Group, Data Protection Officer, Tervurenlaan 43, 1040 Brussels. 

You can also oppose or request the restriction of data processing according to the same modalities and within the limits set by the GDPR. You can also request that your data be erased or transferred. More information can be obtained at the same address.

If you believe that there has been a breach in relation to the processing or your rights, you may, where appropriate, lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.
