What does the month of July 2025 bring for HR?

The sun is high in the sky, and the holiday is approaching. However, in July, some changes take place. For example, the mileage allowance is adjusted, the sector pension in the SEFOCAM sectors begins, and the relaunch of overtime is extended.

New Amount for Mileage Allowance

As an employer, you can provide a flat-rate mileage allowance to employees who use their own car, motorcycle, or moped for work-related travel.
From July 1, 2025, a lower rate will apply for sectors and companies that follow quarterly indexing. From July 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025, the flat-rate mileage allowance will be 0.4309 euros per kilometre, down from 0.4320 euros per kilometre.

New Amount for Home Charging

If your employees charge their electric company car at home, you can reimburse the electricity costs without it being considered an additional benefit. The flat-rate rates used by the CREG to calculate the actual electricity costs for the third quarter of 2025 have been published. These amounts will increase in the third quarter of 2025.

Sectoral Pension Plan for SEFOCAM Sectors

From July 1, 2025, a sectoral supplementary pension plan will be introduced in the Additional Joint Committee for Employees (PC 200) for employees working in the so-called 'Sefocam sectors' (Garage Company (PC 112) – Carriage Works (PSC 149.02) – Precious Metals (PSC 149.03) – Metal Trade (PSC 149.04) and Metal Recovery (PSC 142.01).

Relief Overtime

From July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025, you can again use 120 annual relief overtime hours. At the same time, the increased maximum of 180 tax-favourable overtime hours has been extended until June 30, 2025.
Legislation is currently being prepared to extend both measures in their current form until December 31, 2025. For now, there is only talk of an extension of these overtime hours, not an expansion. Your employees can therefore perform a maximum of 120 relief hours in 2025.

Note: These measures are included in an amendment to the programme law, which is still being discussed in parliament. They will only come into effect after publication in the Moniteur belge. Securex will, of course, keep you informed of further developments regarding this measure.

July 21 is a Legal Public Holiday, July 11 is Not

On July 21, we celebrate our national holiday. Full-time employees are entitled to ten legal public holidays per year. On these days, it is generally not permitted to work. Please note that these public holidays are mandatory and that the social inspection checks compliance.

Our Tip: On that day, banks are also closed. You cannot carry out banking transactions. Therefore, there will also be no electronic payments of wages possible on those dates. Please take this into account when processing payments.
And although July 11 (holiday of the Flemish community) is not a legal public holiday, banks in Flanders are also closed on that day.
