30 Years of the Well-being at Work Act: From Workplace Safety to a Holistic Vision of Well-being
In August 2026, Belgium will celebrate an important date: the Act of 4 August 1996 on the well-being of workers in the performance of their function will mark its 30th anniversary. It is the perfect opportunity to look back on the development of this Act – and especially on its impact on our way of working.

Sick note: stricter rules from 2026
Since 1 January 2026, the rules regarding a one-day absence without a medical certificate have become stricter again. Employees may now stay home due to illness without a doctor's note only twice per calendar year.
