Telework
Encourage your employees to work from home more often if possible. The more people work from home, the less commuter traffic there is, which helps reduce oil consumption.
You can read about how to implement telework and what to watch out for in our telework theme sheet.
Company cars
The rising gas price also affects electricity costs. Therefore, it is a good idea to review the charging policy for your employees' electric company cars.
- Set clear agreements about unlimited (expensive) fast charging.
- If you have solar panels, encourage your employees to charge their cars at the company.
- Agree on the maintenance of the cars.
- Raise awareness among your employees to drive more slowly.
- Consider revising the allowances for home charging.
Our tip: Prepare for high energy costs and adjust your car policy. We have already prepared a model annex for the car policy. Your Legal Advisor can help you with this. Feel free to contact us via MyHR@securex.be
Review your pay policy
By optimising your pay policy, you can control labour costs and motivate your employees. There are many ways to optimise your pay policy both fiscally and socially. In addition, there are many complementary benefits that give your employees a higher net amount at the end of the month.
Consider, for example:

An alternative to the car
Encourage your employees to use alternatives to the car. For short distances, a (electric) bicycle is often an efficient and inexpensive option. For longer journeys, public transport or carpooling with colleagues can be good choices.
Raise awareness among your employees about standby power consumption
Computers left on day and night cause standby power consumption. Standby power consumption can account for up to 10% of your SME's electricity bill.
By simply shutting down the computer in the evening, you can save quite a bit of money. Inform your employees about this. Be sure to include this as a guideline in your ITC policy. Securex can assist you with this.
Reduce your energy consumption
The cheapest energy is the energy you do not use. By taking a few small measures, you can save a lot of energy.
Lowering the heating by 1 degree reduces energy consumption by about 7% on average. Also, you can switch off all advertising lighting (signs and shop windows) from 9 or 10 p.m.
