A bonus that costs you nothing
Since 2022, employees with a relatively low average gross monthly salary have been receiving a bonus from the Flemish government. To qualify, these employees must be living in the Flemish Region on January 1 of the following year.
This bonus is free for you as an employer. Employees with a low gross salary can receive a bonus of up to 700 euros each year.
How is the bonus calculated?
The bonus is calculated every quarter. The following factors are considered:
The period worked and
The employee's employment status
Who is eligible?
Both private sector employees and civil servants can qualify.
These individuals must also be living in the Flemish Region on January 1 of the year after they qualify for the job bonus based on their salary.
For example, if your employee qualifies for a bonus of 500 euros based on their salary in 2025, they will only receive it if they are living in the Flemish Region on January 1, 2026.
What amount are your employees entitled to?
Not all employees who meet the previous conditions are entitled to the job bonus. Employees must have an average gross monthly salary on an annual basis below the following thresholds:

Up to 2,115 euros

From 2,115.01 euros to 3,114.99 euros
Gradual reduction to 50 euros
From 3,115 euros
0 euros
Additionally, starting in 2025, an extra fixed amount of 50 euros will be added, unless the calculated amount is less than 50 euros for a full-time employee.
Thus, an employee can receive a maximum of 700 euros. This amount is free from taxes and social charges.
For part-time employees, the bonus will be calculated proportionally.
Payment occurs annually in the year following the reference year. Therefore, the bonus for 2025 will only be paid out next year.
What does Securex do for you?
The bonus will be granted automatically for most employees. Securex provides the DmfA data to the NSSO. If the Flemish government has all the information needed to calculate the bonus, no request needs to be submitted.
