Walloon Budget Agreement: which measures affect your company?
The Walloon budget plan for 2027-2029 focuses, according to the government, on employment, infrastructure, mobility and business investments. For employers, the announced support measures and their timing are especially important. The exact conditions and procedures still need to be set out in the official texts.
Job bonus and support for companies
The government announces a Job bonus for employees living in Wallonia who earn up to €5,000 gross per month. The region will pay the bonus annually; the first payments are planned for 2028. The bonus is up to €500 for the lowest incomes and gradually decreases to €50 for those earning €5,000 gross per month.
The budget also includes various support measures for companies, such as compensation for indirect carbon costs and for investments in AI, innovation and the circular economy. However, the exact conditions, application procedures and timing are not yet known. It is therefore unclear which companies will be eligible and when applications will open.
Infrastructure, mobility and administration
The government announces a multi-year infrastructure plan for roads, bridges, tunnels, waterways and mobility. In addition, a road vignette for cars and vans up to 3.5 tonnes will be introduced from 1 May 2027. A reduction in road tax is also being considered.
Furthermore, the tax deductibility of service checks will be removed. Nothing is yet known about the timing or any transitional measures.
Hiring freeze at the Walloon government
The Walloon government plans to reduce the number of local trustees and encourage closer cooperation between municipal administrations and Public Centres for Social Welfare (OCMWs).
Brussels Budget Agreement: which measures affect your company?
The Brussels budget agreement includes several announced measures related to work and mobility.
Activa and Actiris
The Activa support, a subsidy for employers who hire long-term unemployed people, will be abolished. This had already been announced earlier.

In addition, companies creating jobs at the sites of Audi, Solvay and Schaerbeek will be able to benefit from reductions in charges.
Brussels is saving 55 million euros on its employment policy. Actiris will focus more on its core tasks, with extra efforts on guidance and faster service for jobseekers.
Hiring freeze at the Brussels government
Vacancies will no longer be filled automatically. Employees will be more often redeployed internally to areas where staff are most needed. At the same time, the Brussels government will continue merging various administrations. The salary scales of government personnel will be maintained.
The number of subsidised contract workers will remain unchanged. Brussels has about 5,000 'gesco's' in municipalities and non-profit organisations. These jobs support many local services in community life, education and the social and cultural sectors.
Mobility
The Brussels government will keep the advantageous MIVB subscriptions for young people and seniors at 12 euros per year. The price of a regular ticket will be indexed and will increase from 2.40 euros to 2.50 euros from February.
In addition, a road vignette for cars and vans will be introduced from 1 May 2027. This measure was coordinated with the other regions and will be accompanied by a reform of the road tax. Further details are still to come.
