Safer behaviour? Fewer accidents!
Did you know that 80% of industrial accidents occur because of unsafe behaviour? It often boils down to carelessness or ignorance on the part of your staff. If you tackle that behaviour, you’ll visibly reduce the number of accidents. And the accompanying costs will also fall.
Make safe behaviour the norm
How much do you pay for your industrial accident insurance premiums? And what percentage of accidents are caused by unsafe behaviour? Research shows that eighty percent of accidents are caused by unsafe behaviour. So a well thought-out approach will immediately reduce this number. And your industrial accident premiums.
Securex helps turn unsafe behaviour into safe behaviour. You decide whether we help establish a complete set of measures, create specific modules only, or simply guide you along your journey of change.
Six steps to fewer accidents
Our six-step plan structurally reduces accident numbers. Because we find the risky behaviour, remove it and prevent it happening again in the future.
- Specify your vision: what is it that you want to achieve? A reduction in accidents in real figures? Greater availability of your staff? Or perhaps your main goal is to ban specific behaviours? Your choice of vision determines the focus of your safety policy.
- Create a support base: bring all key figures in your organisation on board. Involve directors, management and the CPBW when outlining your vision and get them excited about the project.
- Analyse the danger: use your own checklists or our specialised models to track down unsafe situations and behaviours. Look for the real causes of unsafe behaviour and formulate suitable responses. Your report should lay down action points and priorities.
- Train your managers: train your key figures to ban undesirable behaviour. Teach them how to make employees aware of dangerous behaviour and teach them conversational techniques.
- Put your plan into action: follow up the priorities and work points closely and ensure that your managers assume their behaviour changing tasks. Use clear codes of conduct and ‘time-out’ safety moments as effective tools.
- Constantly evaluate: know what your managers and staff are doing. Our six-monthly audit tells you how your policy scores and where it needs fine-tuning.
