Step 1: your company’s vision on absenteeism

Do you wish to tackle absenteeism in your organisation with Securex? Then we get to work right away. We select a consultant who is familiar with your industry and the language of your company and immediately plan a kick-off meeting.

The project plan

During the first work meeting, we lay down the responsibilities, tasks and targets. Thus our consultant knows exactly where to find the right information and to whom he should report with results.

Then he gathers and studies all relevant information concerning the current absenteeism policy, the structure of your company and its culture. He thus quickly familiarizes himself with your organisation.

The outcome? Your project plan with clear goals, a pre-arranged action plan, a strict timing and an instrument to evaluate the situation. And because we immediately lay down our goals in figures, we are able to accurately evaluate them.

Vision on absenteeism

Absenteeism is a broad concept that means something different to everybody. It is perfectly normal that different companies have different standards. Our absenteeism policy is not aimed at adapting these standards. It does attempt to reduce absenteeism within these norms. Which means we need to have a uniform definition of absenteeism before we can set to work.

That is why we organise a working committee to arrive at a vision on absenteeism within your company. We specifically pay attention to three different views on absenteeism:

  • Medical: Absenteeism due to illness is a medical problem. The figures of the company physician, the criteria for ordering a control, the discouraging effect of a control system, ... are all important elements to arrive at a uniform vision on absenteeism.
  • Technical: An employee who no longer can deal with the physical or mental requirements of his job is not unfit for work. There are criteria for this too and the opinion and vision of the parties concerned is also important (confidential adviser, HR manager, physician, etc.).
  • Behaviour: Some employees tend to be absent more often than others. Without a clear medical reason or differences as regards burden. This behaviour is highly dependent on motivation and awareness.
