Step 3: map the causes of absenteeism

Do we know the extent of the absenteeism issue within your company? Then it is time to check why it is so comprehensive (or so reduced). And where the real causes for absenteeism lie. Because if we can find out what these are, we will be able to combat them.

In-depth interviews and workshops

Your company will determine how we carry out our research into the underlying causes. If the company culture enables us to hold individual discussions, then we will start by organising in-depth interviews. Otherwise we will skip this step and search by means of working committees. Or a combination of both methods.

  • In-depth interviews: We will interview employees at all levels within the company and ask them about work pressure, atmosphere and other underlying motives for absenteeism. The number of interviews is equivalent to the size of your company.
  • Working committees: We gather employees from all levels of the company and will discuss some important questions concerning motives for absenteeism. We will raise participants' awareness of the situation by using real figures. Which inevitable always leads to constructive proposals.

A clear report with points for action

We will gather the data from the interviews and the working committees in a clear report. We will then present it to the steering committee, together with constructive, useful proposals for improvement.
