Our history

The Securex Group has been operating for more than one hundred years. Originally an insurance broker, we have grown into a unique and diverse service provider of social administration and HR services.

Protection of workers

Securex was founded in 1905 as the Joint Insurance Fund for Occupational Accidents in order to protect employees in the textile industry. Our origins are a response to the 1903 Act on Occupational Accidents.

Growing into a reliable asset

In 1928 we founded the Child Benefit Fund, which rapidly became one of the biggest in Belgium. After the Second World War, in 1946, the Belgian National Office for Social Security was founded. We capitalized on this by establishing the social secretariat Secretex and the Muttex health insurance fund. These no longer merely focused on textile workers. All professional groups were able to join – private individuals as well as the biggest companies.

Always innovative

In 1958 we developed our own IT department. It assures seamless support of our customers concerning HR administration, health insurance fund and social security. The Medical Control of Absenteeism department, which was founded 1960, was also well ahead of its time.

The consequences? In 1963, at the time when the name Securex was established, it soon became a reliable asset in Belgium. To such an extent, that the Ministry of Employment and Labour requested our collaboration in 1965 to draw up the text of the Royal Decree on Occupational Medicine. After the ratification of this Royal Decree, Securex was the first party to offer a fully-fledged Occupational Medicine Service to its customers.

Development and decentralisation

Our aim is to develop and optimise our services. To this end, we founded the Social Insurance Fund for the Self-Employed, Integrity, in 1968.
In an aim to perpetuate our growth and to better anticipate the desires of our customers, we have to decentralise our services. This process was launched in 1970, when we expanded our offices in Ghent with provincial offices in Aalst, Kortrijk, Ronse, Verviers, Brussels, Mons, Liège, Namur and Eupen. This was followed by Antwerp, Hasselt, Drongen, Bruges, Moeskroen, Koksijde, Waver, Charleroi and Tournai between 1980 and 2000. Shortly after 2000, we opened a new office in Leuven. But the call from abroad was also quite strong: We entered the international market in 1972 with a subsidiary in Lille (France).

Capitalizing on change

Social legislation and labour reality are becoming increasingly complex. As always, Securex manages to capitalise on this evolution in a flexible manner. In 1981, the legislation regarding the Free Complementary Pension for Self-Employed took effect: we thus founded the Association for Mutual Insurance Securex Life.
In 2002 we developed our Start-ups department, the first virtual office in Belgium. Our e-starters is thus the predecessor of Securex's Business one-stop shop.

A strong research facility

In 2002 Securex also obtained the exclusive rights for the commercialisation of the Securex Research Center, known at the time as ZebraZone. In our Research Center, we analyse and compare the knowledge from our various Securex departments. With these results, we support our services to customers, partners and stakeholders.

Emphasis on HR

In 2003, we focused even more on the HR market with the takeover of GRH Management, an HR consultancy with subsidiaries in France. In so doing, we reinforced our service offer for businesses and positioned ourselves more clearly as an expert regarding human capital.
In 2003 we also opened a new office in Oudenaarde.

Expansion of HR activities

In 2004 we established ourselves in Luxembourg. In Belgium we further expanded our HR activities with the takeover of HR Accent. Thus Securex offers businesses a fully automated solution for anything from payroll administration to Human Resources Management.

One hundred years of expertise and experience

In 2005 Securex celebrated its one hundredth anniversary. We organised a festive reception and organised a major event in Walibi, where we welcomed more than 20,000 customers and employees, as well as their families.

Continued growth

In 2007 Progecov joined the Securex Group. Progecov is an External Prevention and Protection Service, which focuses on public authorities. That same year we also opened a new office in Sint-Niklaas.
