Entirely tax-exempt up to 2,200 euros
The wage bonus system has been in force since 1 January 2008. These are the most important rules:
- The initiative lies in your hands, as the employer. You set a concrete company goal and will pay a bonus if the goal is achieved.
- All employees involved will receive the same amount. This could include all of your personnel or one or more categories.
- For your employees, any bonus up to 2,200 euros is entirely tax-free and exempt from social security payments. Not a eurocent will be deducted.
- You yourself, as the employer, will only pay a special 33% employer’s contribution to the National Office for Social Security. This contribution and the bonus itself are entirely deductible as a professional expense.

Collective “old school" cash incentives are completely passé
You can create an optimum mix of cash incentive and postponed wages for those personnel categories that receive a wage bonus that amounts to more than the tax-exempt 2,200 euros.
